Hollywoodland (2006) R - 2½ Stars

Based on the 1959 death of George Reeves, the Superman actor, who either killed himself, or was murdered, Hollywoodland is a thriller lacking most of the thrill. I don't think the movie did a good job of discovering my compassion into finding out the truth as the characters really didn't make me feel or care about any of them. I loved based on true story movies but this one is not on my list of those to recommend viewing.

George Reeves (Ben Affleck) stars in the 1951 version of Superman and the Mole Men movie. Even though it was a B-movie at best, he was later cast to play the role of Superman in the television series. His career was finally turning successful until he was found dead on June 16, 1959 with a bullet wound to his head. It was an open and closed case and labeled a suicide but his mother Lois refused to believe her son would take his own life. She hired Louis Simo (Adrian Brody), a private investigator to get to the bottom of the truth who uncovers all sorts of reasons why he just might have been shot.
