Juno (2007) PG13 - 4½ Stars

I want to say this is a really cute movie but I don't think that is the right words. But the movie IS as good as they say!!!

This is a coming of age story of a young girl, Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) who btw is pretty awesome in this movie, who's sort of a plain jane. She's a pretty hip 16 year old who finds out the hard way she's not as smart as she thought. She one night sleeps with her best friend Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera), and becomes pregnant. She enlists the help of her best girlfriend and cheerleader Leah (Olivia Thirlby) and together they scan the Penny Saver looking for an appropriate family to raise the kid. After finding the right couple, Juno goes home to tell the family. Her dad Mac (J.K. Simmons) and step mom Bren (Allison Janney) are actually very supportive of her decision and stand by her all along the way.

After Juno starts to bond with the new family Mark (Jason Bateman) and Vanessa Loring (Jennifer Garner), she finds out they may not be the best suited parents. But in the end she learns a lot about herself and does the right thing by all.

2007 - Juno - Academy - Best Original Screenplay (and a ton more awards).

i assumed Juno was directed by the same guy that directed Knocked Up because it's about an unexpected pregnancy, and Michael Cera stars as Juno's boyfriend (he was one of the goofy kids from Superbad, a close relative of Knocked Up), but it turns out this is not the case
