13 Conversations About One Thing (2001) R - 3 Stars

A separate group of 13 people will all become connected and inter-twined, sort of like in the movie Crash, though not as good. In some ironic way, all their lives link in the high and low points of their lives. Sort of depressing and causes one to take better note of their lives importance. The acting is very good from all but the characters have so much despair, it would have been nicer to have felt more hopeful about the outcome.

Gene (Alan Arkin) is in the insurance business company troubled by his ex wife and misguided son. He always looks at the glass as half empty. Walker (John Turturro), is a physics professor who is bored with his life. Call it mid-life crisis but he just feels in need of a major change and sends his wife Patricia (Amy Irving), packing. Troy (Matthew McConaughey) thinks he's a big shot attorney and commits a crime by leaving the scene of an accident. Beatrice (Clea DuVall) is a cleaning woman who suffers an almost fatal accident and now in need of a miracle. All of their lives will catch up with them and each will learn something more about themselves.
