Harsh Times (2006) R - 3½ Stars

This movie didn't get very good ratings from the critics, but I liked it a lot. It's the story of two friends, who's loyalty to one another could costs them their lives. "On the Streets of L.A., loyalty is everything

Jim Davis (Christian Bale) is recently discharged from his service in the Gulf War. With still the fight inside of him, he applies for a job at the L.A.P.D.. He figures if he has this job, he can get married and have his sweetheart from Mexico, come live with him.

Mike (Freddy Rodriguez), is Jim's unemployed best friend. Mike's girlfriend Sylvia (Eva Longoria) encourages Mike to get a job so they can both contribute to their relationship. Mike means to do what Sylvia says but finds himself slipping back into bad habits when hanging out with Jim. The two are drinking when driving and stopping people on the road and playing bad asses everywhere they go. Mike likes the feeling of those good old days and begins to get caught up in it.

When Jim gets hired by Department of Homeland Security, he feels he is invincible. Sylvia gives Mike one last ultimatum and Mike decides to go with his friend to Mexico. When that decision almost costs him his life, Mike has to decide what's more important before it's too late.
