Running With Scissors (2006) R - 2 Stars

GEEZO talk about yet another dysfunctional family. Everything about this movie was disturbing to me. I didn't care for it - there's no direction, everything is SO dysfunctional it makes you feel like you want to just jump off a building to get away from it all. I guess that's the point but the ending is the best part.

Augusten Burroughs (Joseph Cross) is a small boy growing up in the 70's. His two parents are the reason some should not have children. Norman (Alec Baldwin) drinks to solve his problems and Deidre (Annette Benning) writes delusional poems that no one cares to see. Neither can function and are about ready to call it quits. Deidre seeks professional help with Dr. Finch (Brian Cox) yet another wacko, who keeps Deidre on Valiums while welcoming Augusten into his home of other dysfunctional bratty kids.

Dr. Finch's wife Agnes (Jill Clayburgh) eats kibble as she watches TV. Hope (Gwyneth Paltrow) is the oldest daughter and Natalie (Evan Rachael Wood) is fascinated with Augusten and tries to administer electric shock therapy to him. Somehow Augusten is able to hold onto some of his sanity.
