Silent Hill (2006) R - 2 Stars

The movie is based on a video game by the same name. I've never played it so was not sure what to expect. I didn't think the movie was all that scary but had a real creepiness to it even though I really didn't understand the story well. I guess Sharon becomes resurrected as Alessa or the other way around?

Rose (Radha Mitchell) ignores her husband Christopher's (Sean Bean) wishes and takes their only daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland), to a small town of Silent Hill. Sharon is sick, really sick and the doctors want to put her into an institution. Sharon has dreams about a small town known as Silent Hill. Rose takes her there to see if she can discover why it matters so much.

On the way to Silent Hill, they get pulled over. Rose is sure her husband has called out a search on the two, so as soon as the cop gets off his bike to walk to the car, Rose takes off. As she speeds towards the town, the radio blares on as if it's trying to connect to Sharon. A cop, Cybil Bennett (Laurie Holden) follows them the rest of the way to the city.

As they speed ahead, a girl walks out into the street in front of them. Rose brakes to miss the child and both Cybil and Rose have crashed their heads awakening to find Sharon gone. Now the two are on a mission to find Sharon and bring her out alive.

Alessa is the dead girl in town seeking revenge for those who killed her. She is a part of Sharon and thus why summoned there. Together in a game of cat and mouse, Rose Cyblill and Sharon find themselves as players in the puzzle.
