The Eye (2008) PG13 - 3 Stars

Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) has been blind since age 5 when she and her sister Helen (Parker Posey), had an accident with firecrackers. None the less, she has become an accomplished violinist and quite an independent woman. Sydney gets another chance at sight as she's scheduled for a double corneal transplant.

While she's awaits the procedure, her sister comes into town to be by her side. She has always blamed herself for Sydney's accident and wants to see Sydney's transplant a success this time. At age 12 Sydney's last transplant failed when her body rejected the new organs. Dr. Paul Faulkner (Alessandro Nivola) views the operation as a complete success. As the bandages are removed, she can faintly make out objects but her world is still a bit blurry. When she sees dark forms keep passing around the room, the doctor tells her it's normal as she has to train her brain to make reason out of what it is viewing.

When Sydney realises these images mean something deeper, she tries to find out more about the the donor. The eyes she once wished for become more blinding as she tries to make sense of their past.
