Levity (2003) R - 3½ Stars

Manuel Jordan (Billy Bob Thornton) accidentally kills a child in a robbery and has spent the last 23 years behind bars. He has no idea where to go so heads for the town he had his last robbery in. He hopes he can make amends for his ways there.

Manuel meets pastor Miles Evans (Morgan Freeman), who helps him find a place to stay and a way to keep his head above water. He helps out by serving meals.

In this small town meeting Adele Easely (Holly Hunter) may not be such a coincidence. She happens to be the sister of the boy he went to prison for. He just wants to try and make her life easier for her. But how will he tell her what he has done?

He also is on a mission to help Sofia Mellinger (Kirsten Dunst), a rich girl that doesn't appreciate her life and could kill herself with her serious drug problem. I think he's trying to fix himself by intervening as much as possible in other lives. Perhaps by doing a bunch of good things, he can make up for one very bad thing.
