Hope and Glory (1987) PG13 - 3½ Stars

This movie is actually based on the autobiography of John Boorman's family that survived in London during the World War II. The movie is told through the eyes of small boy and Sebastian is perfect in this role.

Billy Rohan (Sebastian Rice Edwards) is a 7 year old boy growing up in the middle of a war. The men have all gone to serve and Billy is left with the women of the family. Billy sees the war as an adventure sort of like playing war games with his tin soldiers except this is larger than life. His naiveness seems to protect him from the bombs falling around him. When his school is bombed, the children rejoice and Billy actually thanks Hitler because they don't have to go to school.
