Memento (2000) R - 4 Stars

Leonard (Guy Pearce) and his wife are brutally attacked and robbed. Leonard also watches as his wife is raped and then killed. The robber doesn't stop there but also tries to kill Leonard, leaving him for dead.

Each day is a struggle for Leonard to get his life back on track as he can not remember anything in his short term memory. Not being able to retain any new information, he uses notes and Polaroids to help him remember. The problem is he still can't remember why he wrote or photographed it. Real important issues like his name, address etc., he tattoos on his body so he can't forget. One thing he is able to remember is his wife's death and he vows to find her killer.

While at the bar he talks with the bartender Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss), who really seems to feel for him and so far the only one he feels he can trust. Teddy (Joe Pantoliano), is another one of Leonard's friend though he has a hard time trusting in anyone anymore. [There's a scene where Natalie and Leonard meet at a restaurant - HEY I've been sitting in that booth before many times. It was filmed at the Grinder in Glendale, CA - unfortunately closed now.]
