The Number 23 (2007) R - 2½ Stars

Walter Sparrow (Jim Carrey) reads a mystery novel, The Number 23, his wife Agatha (Virginia Madsen) has given him as a birthday gift. The book is about a detective Fingerling who's investigating a series of murders. At first it's just a book that's good reading but eventually with each turn of the page, he begins to think the book was written about him and his own life. Walter becomes increasing obsessed on the fact that his fictional character, Fingerling, equates everything to the number 23. When Walter starts having nightmares and visions about what will happen to his wife, he involves Agatha and son Robin (Logan Lerman), to prove 23 is not just coincidental, but a fore sign of things to come. This once sane man puts himself into psychological torture, as fiction seems to merge with reality.
