Landon Carter (Shane West) is the popular guy on campus at Beaufort High in North Carolina. He is involved in a practical joke on campus that goes horribly wrong and a student becomes paralyzed. Landon is given community service and also must join and participate in the Drama Club's spring play.Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore) is the daughter of the town's Baptist minister (Peter Coyote). She's been labeled the plain Jane on campus. When Landon must as for her help, he starts to see the world through her eyes and her passion for living rubs off on him. Suddenly he's not the cool guy on campus anymore but decides to follow his heart. The movie teaches a great lesson.
