The Hours and Times (1992) NR - 2 Stars

Filmed in B&W, this movies is about the so called relationship between the Beatles John Lennon and manager Brian Epstein. In 1963 John (Ian Hart) and Brian (David Angus) took an extended vacation to Barceleona right before Beatlemania was due to explode in the states. This much is based on a true story but the film gives a scenario of what might have really been the cause for the trip.

The film suggests Lennon stuggled with his sexuality causing sexual tension between the two. John is just newly married with child, the group is soaring to the top, but he's still looking for something to fill his void. Brian is openly homosexual and has to come to grips with his lonilessness. Brian puts advances out there for John who almost convinced to try. He flirts with the steward Marianne (Stephanie Pack) to prove himself straight though doesn't capitalize on her coming in his room as he thoughts are with Brian.

The movie is over fast, doesn't explain much and pretty useless at explaining anything or setting the stage for desire.
